Accessibility

Our aim
We want everyone to be able to read about the method and the flowers and use the form on this site, whether they use a keyboard, a screen reader, zoom, or prefer less motion.
The standard we follow
We build and test this site against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the level the European standard EN 301 549 and the European Accessibility Act refer to. We believe the site meets it, with the limits listed below.
In the United States, this is also the level generally used to meet the accessibility requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
What we did
Among other things:
- Every page works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus ring.
- Pages have landmarks, one main heading and a skip link; the form has labels, and errors are announced and linked to their field.
- Text and controls meet the contrast levels in light and dark mode; buttons and links are at least 24 by 24 pixels.
- Pages work on a 320 pixel wide screen, which is what 400 percent zoom gives on a common laptop.
- Motion is switched off when your device asks for reduced motion, and the see-through glass becomes solid when it asks for reduced transparency.
- The flower drawings are decoration and are hidden from screen readers; every flower is also named in text.
Known limits
We know of this, and it is outside our control:
- The film opens on YouTube, in YouTube’s own player. Its controls and captions are provided by YouTube.
How we test
Every page is checked automatically with axe in our tests on every change, in light and dark mode. Testing by hand with VoiceOver on Mac and iPhone, NVDA on Windows, and with a keyboard only has not been finished yet.
